     Seth Hayes was born in 1785 in New York.1 He was the son of Pliny Hayes and Priscilla Whipple.2
     He married Lydia Jewett, daughter of Joseph Jewett and Huldah Fenton, in Burton, Geauga County, Ohio, on 17 December 1818.1 Seth HAYS was listed on page 1 of the 1842-1843 Ledger of Ebenezer Gage's General Store in Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa.3 In the list of voters in Jefferson County for the 1848 presidential election 7 November 1848 Seth Hayes was listed in Locust Grove Township.4 In 1853 Seth and Lydia moved to Oregon Territory, traveling over the Oregon Trail by wagon train. Their children Ebenezer, Sybil and Priscilla went with them. There were a number of other family members in the same train.5 Seth Hayes was living in Linn County, Oregon Territory, when Oregon became a state on 14 February 1859.6
     Seth died in April 1860 in Linn County, Oregon.7,8

     Lydia Jewett was born on 21 February 1793 in Lisbon, Grafton County, New Hampshire.1 She was the daughter of Joseph Jewett and Huldah Fenton.2,3
     She married Seth Hayes, son of Pliny Hayes and Priscilla Whipple, in Burton, Geauga County, Ohio, on 17 December 1818.1 In 1853 Lydia and Seth moved to Oregon Territory, traveling over the Oregon Trail by wagon train. Their children Ebenezer, Sybil and Priscilla went with them. There were a number of other family members in the same train.4 Lydia Hayes was living in Linn County, Oregon Territory, when Oregon became a state on 14 February 1859.5
     On 9 July 1860 Lydia appeared on the 1860 U.S. census taken in Linn County, Oregon..6
     Lydia died on 8 November 1864 in Linn County, Oregon, at age 71.1,7
     An obituary for Lydia Hayes was published in the Pacific Christian Advocate, Portland, Oregon on 24 December 1864. It read:
Sister Lydia Hays died in great peace and full assurance of eternal life, at her daughter's, Mrs. Windham, in Linn county, Oregon, Nov. 8th, 1864, more than three score and ten years of age. She leaves a large family, mostly professed Christians and Methodists. J. B. CALLOWAY.7

     He married Margaret Thornburg, daughter of Joseph Thornburg and Ann Armfield, at New Garden Monthly Meeting in Guilford County, North Carolina, the 8th day of the 3rd month 1786 (8 March 1786).3 On the 12th day, 6th month, 1806(12 June 1806), at Miami Monthly Meeting in Warren County, Ohio, Stephen and Margaret were received on certificate from New Garden Monthly Meeting, North Carolina. Their children William, Joseph, Isaac, Ann, Hannah, Phebe, Stephen, Edward and Margaret came with them. This certificate was dated 9th month, 28th day, 1805.4 As of 1821, Stephen Hoggatt was also known as Hockett.5
     Stephen died on 26 June 1839 in Salem Township, Henry County, Iowa, at age 72.2

     In Green Township, Viola post office, Mercer County, Illinois, on 7 June 1870 she appeared on the 1870 U.S. census in the household of her parents Luman and Lucy Elizabeth Chase. She was listed as Fannie Chase, a 1 year old white female born in Illinois.2
     On 1 June 1880 in Atlanta Precinct, Saline County, Nebraska, she appeared on the 1880 U.S. census in the household of her parents Luman and Lucy Elizabeth Chase. She was shown as Fanny I Chase, age 10, born in Illinois, attended school.3
     In June 1885 in Atlanta Township, Saline County, Nebraska, she appeared on the 1885 State census in the household of her parents Luman and Lucy Elizabeth Pratt. She was shown as Fannie Chase, age 16, born in Illinois.4
     She married John Hiber in Tobias, Saline County, Nebraska, on 1 November 1887.5
     Fannie died on 7 March 1950 in Absarokee, Stillwater County, Montana, at age 82.5
     An obituary for Fannie Irene Hiber was published in the Billings Gazette, Billings, Montana on 8 March 1950. It read:
Final Rites Set for Matron, 84. Mrs. Fannie Hiber of Absarokee Dies. Mrs. Fannie Irene Hiber, 84, of Absarokee died Tuesday at 3 a.m. in a Billings nursing home at 1053 Lincoln road of complicaitons resulting from advanced age. She had been at the nursing home since her release from a Billings hospital February 17. While in the hospital she had undergone a major operation, but apparently had recovered fully. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Congregational church in Absarokee. Mrs. Hiber was born Dec. 23, 1865, in Saline county, Illinois, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luman CHase. As a small child she moved with her parents to Friend, Neb. In 1884 she was married in Nebraska to John F. Hiber. They came to Montana in 1915 and first ranched south of Mossmain on the Yellowstone River. They moved to a farm on the Stillwater River near Absarokee in 1923, and in 1929 moved into Absarokee. Mr. Hiber died in 1941. Surviving Mrs. Hiber are six sons and two daughters, Erva Hiber of Hastings, Neb., Ralph Hiber of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Murl Hobson of Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Harriet Peters of Oakland, Cal., Jack Hiber of Twodot. Lee Hiber and Clarence E. Hiber, both of 713 Miles Avenue, two sister, Mrs. A. A. Hunt of Deer Park, Wash., and Mrs. J. Faulkner of Spokane; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The body is at Settergren's funeral home.6

     In June 1885 in Atlanta Township, Saline County, Nebraska, she appeared on the 1885 State census in the household of her parents Luman and Lucy Elizabeth Pratt. She was enumerated as Sarah Chase, age 11, born in Nebraska.4
     She married William Otis Cogswell in Saline County, Nebraska, on 24 December 1892.1 Sarah Jane Chase also went by the name of Sadie.
     Sarah died on 25 December 1935 in Veneta, Lane County, Oregon, at age 61.5,6,1
     An obituary for Sarah Jane Chase was published in The Register Guard, Eugene, Oregon on 26 December 1935. It read:
Mrs. Sadie J. Cogswell. SPRINGFIELD, Dec. 26 -- (Special) -- Sadie J. Cogswell, 61, died Christmas day at her home in Springfield. She was born Jan 28, 1874, in Saline county, Neb. She was married in 1891 to William O. Cogswell, and in 1893 the couple moved to Colorado, where they lived three years; thence they went to Sherman county, Kansas, where they lived five years on a homestead. In 1901 they moved to Deer Park, Wash., where they lived 14 years. In 1923 they came to Eugene and last year they came to Springfield, where they have made their home. The day before her death, Mr. and Mrs. Cogswell had been married for 44 years. She belonged to the Church of God. Surviving are her husband; three children, Archie M. Cogswell, Denver, Colo., Charles Otis, Clamath Falls, and Mrs. Ethel Stolsig, Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Fanny Stolsig, Montana, Mrs. Mattie Hunt, Deer Park, Wash., and Mrs. Hattie Faulkner, Spokane; and one brother, Charles N. Chase, Friend, Neb. Funeral services will be announced from Poole funeral chapel.6
The inscription on her grave marker reads: COGSWELL. Sadie 1874-1935. On stone with husband, William.7 She was buried at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Lane County, Oregon.2

     John Barnett England was born on 11 January 1828 in Tennessee.1,2 He was the son of William Logsdon England and Mary Jane Walker. He moved to Montgomery County, Illinois, about 1829 with his parents William and Mary Jane England.3 He moved to Fabius Township, Davis County, Iowa, about 1847 with his parents William and Mary Jane England.4,3
     He appeared on the 1850 U.S. census taken on 30 September 1850 in Fabius Township, Davis County, Iowa, in the household of his parents William and Mary Jane England. His listing showed John England, a farmer, age 22, born in Tennessee.5
     In 1856 John Barnett England appeared on the state census in Wyacondah Township, Davis County, Iowa, in the household of his parents, William Logsdon England and Mary Jane England. He was listed as John B England, age 27, born in Tennessee, a laborer.6
     On 30 June 1860 he appeared on the 1860 U.S. census taken in Fabius Township, Post Office Monterey, Davis County, Iowa, in the household of his parents William and Mary Jane England. He was listed as John B. England, age 31, born in Tennessee, a farmer with $1100 value real property.7
     He married Eliza Jane Goodson in Davis County, Iowa, on 20 April 1865.8 On 14 August 1873,John Barnett England and William Logsdon England purchased real estate from John Whiteaker, in Lane County, Oregon. The property was described as 753.5 acres more or less in portions of sections 28, 32 and 33 in Township 20 South, Range 2 West. About 1950 the Dorena Dam was constructed on parts of this land.9 He made a will in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, on 25 May 1901.10
     John died on 31 May 1901 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, at age 73.10
