Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Redeemer Lultheran Church, and interment in Belcrest Memorial Park, under the direction of Barrick mortuary. Contributions may be made to the Marion County chapter of the Cancer Society.5

As a child, he moved to a farm in south Tangent. He went to school for three years in Tangent, then went to Cloverdale School. He finished his schooling at Immanuel Lutheran School. He started working on a farm near Rickreall while living in Dallas. He built himself a house on the farm. He married his wife, Virginia, on Dec. 22, 1935, in her parents' log house in Dallas. They rented a 100-acre farm in Dallas and lived there unti 1941, when they moved to Jefferson. They bought a farm there, living in Jefferson until selling the farm and moving the [sic] Albany last year. Mr. Kreger sold produce at the Farmers Market in Albany for more than 20 years. He was one of the original farmers at the market. In addition to farming, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and playing the harmonica. He was an elder and Sunday school teacher at Immanuel Lutheran Church and a board member for the Farmers Union. In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Fred Kreger of Princeton, Jerry Kreger of St Helens and Don Kreger of South Bend, Ind; his daughters, Dorene Kutsch of Salem and Lorene Gotta of Albany; his brothers, Edwin Kreger of Napa, Calif., Alvin Kreger of Pendleton and Loren Kreger of Scio; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Aasum Funeral Home in Albany. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pastor Arnold Able will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in care of Aasum Funeral Home, 805 Ellsworth St. S., Albany, OR 97321.5
He was buried at Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Marion County, Oregon.6

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Restlawn Funeral Home. Interment will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Contributions: Arthritis Foundation Oregon Chapter or church memorial fund.4

He served in the National Guard and was a farmer, retiring in 1974. He also worked at Burkland Lumber Co. from 1955 to 1967. He served on the Cascade School District Board from 1960 to 1975. He received an honorary high school disploma in 1975, First Citizens Award of Cascade in 1977 and Cascade Distinguished Service Award in 1984. He also was a member of the Cloverdale School Board and Peppermint Promenaders. He enjoyed dancing and singing. Survivors include his wife, Mae; sons, Wayne of Raa Tanura, Saudi Arabia, Curtis of Gresham and Keith of Turner; daughter, Twila of Salem; brothers, Walter of Albany, Loren of Scio, Alvin of Pendleton and Edwin of Napa, Calif; sister, Katherine Mehl of Salem; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Private interment was at Cloverdale Cemetery, Turner. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary, Salem. Contributions: church memorial fund or OHSU Foundation, Parkinson's Research, 1121 S.W. Salmon St., Suite 200, Portland, Ore. 97205-9945.5

     He appeared on the 1940 U.S. census taken on 1 May 1940 in Syracuse Precinct, Linn County, Oregon, in the household of his parents Lora and Frederick Kreger. He was listed as Edwin Kreger, age 18, born in Oregon and had completed 4 years of high school. His occupation was laborer.3
     He married June Gold on 1 April 1944.1,4
     Edwin died on 28 February 2006 in Napa, Napa County, California, at age 84.4,5
     An obituary for Edwin Robert Arthur Kreger was published in the Democrat Herald, Albany, Oregon in March 2006. It read:
Edwin Arthur Kreger, Jan. 16, 1922 -- Feb. 28, 2006. Edwin A. Kreger, 84, of Napa, Calif., died Tuesday, Feb. 28, at a care home in Napa. He was the son of Frederick and Lora (Falk) Kreger. He was raised in the Albany area, baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, attended Millersburg school and graduated from Albany High School in 1940. He enlisted in the Navy Air Corps after graduation and was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Navy bomber pilot on the aircraft carrier USS Bennington. He flew numerous missions in the South Pacific. He married June Gold on April 1, 1944. After his discharge, the couple lived in Enumclaw, Wash., Jerfferson, New York and Colorado before settling in Napa, where they lived for 48 years. He retired from the U.S. Post Office as postmaster in the small town of Rutherford in the Napa Valley wine country. Survivors include wife of 61 years, June, of Napa; son and daughter-in-law Art and Silvia Kreger of Baker City; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Rich Herbst of San Bernardino, Calif; daughter Kathleen Trezza of Stockton, Calif; 10 grandchildren and brothers Alvin of Roseburg and Loren of Scio. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Herbert, Walter, Bill and Irwin; and sisters Freda, Esther Brown and Katherine Mehl. He loved his family and grandchildren very much, and working in his church. He really enjoyed his beautiful yard and garden, especially his hobby of bonsai. We know he is enjoying his home in heaven with his Lord. He will be missed by many of us here on earth. A private burial at sea was held.
