Viewing will be Tuesday, February 17, 2009, from, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Private family interment will take place at Skyview Memorial Park. Mr. Kreger was born April 21, 1924, the ninth of ten children to Fredrick and Lora (Falk) Kreger on a dairy farm in Albany, Oregon. He attended Millersburg Grade School and graduated from Albany High School in 1942. While in high school, he was very active in the Future Farmers of America. He served as a chapter officer, showed sheep at the State Fair and attended the National FFA convention in 1941. He served as State Vice-President in 1942. During WWII, the Military Draft Board assigned him to work on his father's dairy farm at Millersburg, Oregon, from 1943 to 1946. During that time, he served in the Oregon State Guard in Albany. He was discharged with the rank of Sargent. On December 6, 1947 he married Myrna Pearl Hayes at Marion, Oregon. Together they lived and worked on several farms and ranches in the Willamette Valley. He operated a sheep and cattle ranch on shared from 1950 until 1953. In 1953, Mr Kreger began working as a Fire Control technician for the U.S. Forest Service at Cascadia, Oregon. In 1960, he transferred to the Blue River Ranger District at Blue River, Oregon, where he was promoted to the positions of District Fire Control Officer. He worked in the Fire Control Department in Fire Suppression, supervising controlled burning projects and working on large fires on the fire overhead teams. In 1969, he was transferred to the Sale [sic] Ranger District at Dale, Oregon where he retired from forest service in 1975. He moved to a small farm at Pendleton, where he raised a few beef cattle, drove wheat truck and drove school bus. In 1984, he and his wife Myrna started a small family business, the Furniture Doctors, refurbishing and refinishing antique furniture. In 1993, they moved to Pendleton where they continued the furnitur business until ill health forced him to quit in 2005. During his entire life, Mr. Kreger was active in community work. He served on a school board, the director of the McKenzie River Search and Rescue unit, was a Red Cross First Aid Instructor for 16 years, a boy school leader and a Babe Ruth baseball umpire. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church and had served on the church council in five Lutheran churches throughout Oregon. He was an avid deer and elk hunter and fisherman, and enjoying hunting camp outs with his sons, son-in-law and nephew. He was preceeded in death by his parents; three sisters, esther Brown, Katherine Mehl, and baby sister, Frieda; five brothers, Herbert, Walter, William, Irvin and Edwin; one son, William. He is survived by his ex-wife, Myrna of Roseburg; daughter and son-in-law, Starla and Larry Sprague of Prineville, Oregon; son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Dick" and Nancy Kreger of Glide, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Amy Kreger of Long Creek; eight, grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Loren Kreger of Scio, Oregon. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in c/o Pendleton Pioneer Chapel Folsom-Bishop, 131 SE Byers Ave, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. As a child she lived in Fall City, Valsetz, the Salem Keizer area and Dallas, where she graduated from high school. She married Walter Kreger Dec. 22, 1935, at her parent;s log home in Dallas. They farmed near Dallas for 10 years. In 1941 they moved to the Jefferson area, where they owned and operated their farm. They had sold produce at the Albany farmers market for 20 years. Last year the Kregers sold their farm and moved to Albany. Mr. Kreger died this year on June 16. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mrs. Kreger enjoyed cocheting, knitting, quilting and being outdoors. She especially liked gospel music and enjoyed her family. Surviving are sons Fred of Princeton, Jerry of St. Helens and Don of South Bend; daughters Dorene Kutsch of Salem and Lorene Gotta of Albany; and brothers Clifford Brown of Salem, Gordan Brown of Mount Angel, Harold Brown of Christmas Valley and Leonard Brown of Dallas. There are 19 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Aasum Funeral Home. A celebration of Mrs. Kreger's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Albany, with Pastor Arnold Abel officiating. Contributions in her name may be made to the church, in care of Aasum Funeral Home, 805 Ellsworth St. S.W., Albany, Ore. 97321.2

She was also involved at the church with Ladies Aide, Altar Guild and Aide Association for Lutherans. Helen's many interests included going to plays, traveling, playing pincchle with her ladies card club, gardening, doing crossword puzzles and playing the piano and organ. She is survived by daughter and husband Sharon and Gary Yon of Albany; son and wife Jim and Faye Falk of Medford; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sister Ellamae Lenox on Aug. 23, 2007. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 434 E. Grant St., in Lebanon. Private interment will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Falk's son went to look for his father in the field where he had been working. At about 1:30 p.m., the son found Falk dead under some farm equipment.4

John R. Falk, age 66, passed away on THursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. He ws born on Oct. 9, 1938, in Richland Center, the son of John and Mildred (Malter) Falk. John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960, during Okinawa, and received a Campaign Ribbon for the Korean defense. John enjoyed his job and co-workers at UW-Whitewater, wherehe worked as a mechanic/ maintenance for 14 years. In his spare time, he loved working on cars, fishing and was an avid race car fan. John also cherished his time spent with his dog, Frankie He is survived by his loving Gingy of 20 years of Delavan; a stepson, Norio (Lori) Miyazato of Beaver Dam; father, John Falk; two brothers, David falk and Ted (Lisa) Falk, all of Madison; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred; a brother, Norbert; and a sister-in-law, Louann Falk. A memoril service will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., on Sunday, Nov 14, 2004, at 2 pm. with Pastor Ken Smith officiating, and the Madison Veteran's Firing Squad concluding services. ...4
He was buried at Avoca Cemetery, Avoca, Iowa County, Wisconsin.6
