An obituary for Mary Ann Bond was published in the Evening Roseburg Review, Roseburg, Oregon on 18 July 1918. It read:
Mary A. O'Neil Bond was born December 7, 1858 near West Grove, Davis County, Iowa, where she lived the first seven years of her life. Then her parents moved to California spending three years there. They then came to Oregon, locating near Creswell, where she grew to woman hood. Hence do we honor to her beautiful patient life today as almost a native Oregonian. On June 18, 1876 she was united in marriage to John H. Bond, who with their five children are left to mourn the loss of mother. We mourn not as they that have no hope for "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord." The two sons Perry and Roy Bond live in Glide. The daughters, Mrs. Margaret Pullen at Jasper, Oregon, Mrs. Ivy A. Stewart at Rennals Cal., Mrs. Florence E. Falks at Harrisburg, Oregon. Early in life Mrs. Bond professed Christ and lived a devoted Christian life, the influence of which lives on and on. Three years ago the parents and sons moved to Glide, having bought the Rancho Del Rio, the large prune farm at Glide. Her health was such that she was not permitted to mingle with the people but very seldom. Visiting her in her home, one always met a warm welcome and felt better, happier, ( ? ) for the privilege of a talk with her. Six months ago she became confined to her bed. All that kind kind loving care could do to help her was done by her devoted family. Many times her soul seemed poised to take flight. It seemed as if the very love of husband and children would bring her back to comfort and bless them. Untill July 14, 1918, just as the benedictions were being pronounced in God's house of worship, the soul, long ready, winged its flight to the land where all tears are wiped away. One more earthly tie broken, but a golden link formed in the chain of love that draws by heavenward mother waits to greet you there.14

An obituary for John Ernest Falk was published in an unidentified newspaper, Iowa in May 1933. It read:
Rites Held for John Falk Sr. Buffalo Pioneer, Monday. Farmer, Merchant and Postmaster, Died Saturday Morning After 40 Years of Illness. Funeral Monday at Home And At Burt. John Falk Sr. died Saturday morning from the infirmities of old age, combined with arthritis that took hold of his body more than forty years ago. His strength gradually faded away and before the family hardly knew it he had passed on to his final reward. He began to lose strength only a week prior to his death. His wife and daughter Tillie were at his bedside when he breathed his last and were constantly in attendance during the long years that he was an invalid. John Falk Sr. was born at Pulaski, Wisconsin, December 9, 1858 died May 13, 1933 at his home at Titonka, age 74 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was born on a farm, and frew up trained to farming. He was united in marriage to Miss Louise Muelar at Muscado, Wis., February 28, 1884. To this union five children were born, namely: Otto, Louise, Tillie, Arthur, John E., all living in Titonka except Louise who lives at Burt. In 1894 Mr. and Mrs. Falk moved from Wisconsin to Iowa and settled near the Phelps home, west of town, in Portland township, where they conducted a country store and post office. That was 39 years ago. The post office was named Buffalo Forks and his store and postoffice was located near the Bucalo [sic] Forks creamery. Later the creamery moved to the center of Buffalo township on the south-west corner of the section near the center school house. The Buffalo Forks post office and store was moved to the same location. In the spring of 1899 the creamery was moved to Titonka then a new town in the making and the post office and store was moved to its present location where they conducted a store and post office for a few months at which time the post office was discontinued, the mail going to the new post office at Titonka, just across the road from the Falk office. From January until March Titonka had two postoffices, John Falk and Ella Graham, postmasters. Mr. Falk farmed a number of years at Castle Rock, Wisconsin before coming to Iowa. While he was in Wisconsin he became afflicted with arthritis rheumatism and during all these years suffered intensely from the malady. The residence in which he died was a part of the store and post office. It was moved from Portland townshp to the center of Buffalo and then to Titonka with an addition built thereon. While in Portland he took ill with typhoid and for many weeks his life was in the balance. Arthritis crippled his limbs and arms to such an extent that he spent twenty of his last years in a wheel chair and the years prior to that on crutches and a cane, making, all told, forty-five years of total disability. Funeral services were held Monday from the old home in town at one o'clock, and at the Lutheran church at Burt, of which he was a member, at 2 p.m., conducted by the pastor Rev. L. Richmann. Following the services the last remains were laid to rest in the Buffalo Township cemetery, south of town. He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife, five children: Otto, Tillie, Arthur, John E., all of Titonka, Mrs. Louise Bleich of Burt, five brothers: Will Falk, Avoca, Wis., Coon Falk, Salem, Oregon, Albert Falk, Halsey, Oregon, Leonhard Falk, Mt. Angel, Oregon; six grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Ever since we have known Mr. Falk he has been an invalid, most of the time confined to his wheel chair. He seldom got very far from home and in the later years he was not seen on the street except in the late spring and summer when he was wheeled up to main street where he sat in his chair and visited with his old friends who happened along. Before illness overtook him he was a keen business man, ambitious and a strong cometitor. (sic) During all of the years he had been helpless he has set an example in uncomplaining courage and patient fortitude. His was a hard lot and his affliction heavy. His wife and children hav e never faltered in their care and service for him and in his passing both he and his family...8

An obituary for Andrew Washington Drone was published in the Grant County Democrat, Muscoda, Wisconsin on 4 December 1908. It read:
Obituary A. W. Drone. Andrew Washington Drone, one of the oldest settlers in the town of Muscoda, passed into the keeping of his Maker the 25th day of November 1908, after having completed a useful, earthly life of 76 years 8 months and 14 days. The deceased was of English descent upon his fathers side and of German extraction through his mothers lineage and was born near the Allegany river, in Pensylvania [sic] to Mr. and Mrs. John Drone, March 11th, 1832. He was reared upon the farm of his birth where he helped his father until he reached the age of 23 years, when he harked to the call of the new great west, that appealed so strongly in those days to the younger men of the sturdy, courageous stock from which he had sprung, and taking leave of his boyhood home he faced resolutely westward to find and create a home for himself. He came directly to Muscoda (in 1855) and found employment here which he continued until he took a homestead of 120 acres about 3 miles south of this village, securing a land patent of the date June, 1858, from the government. Upon this farm, increased by later purchase of additional land, Mr. Drone remained until the day of his death. On the 1st day of January, 1861, he was united in marriage with Angelina Clark, in this village. From this union there was born nine chldren, six of which have survived him. The three, Fred, Jacob and an unnamed babe all died when small. Mrs. Angelina Drone passed away Nov. 21st, 1881. Mr. Drone was married again in May of 1883 to Caroline Folk, [sic] at Avoca. Six children blessed this union, five of whom survive him, one dying in infancy unnamed. Mr. Drone passed through all the hardships of the early pioneers of this country and as his farm was covered with heavy timber it required almost endless labor to clear the land for farming purposes. He was a born lover of nature and town life never held any allurements for him, as is attested by his having spent more than 50 years of his life on the same farm. Being of a hospitable nature and surrounded by a large family of devoted children, his home has been the scene of innumerable gatherings of young people and he took pleasure in keeping open house to his friends and neighbors. For 21 years continuously and a total of 30 years he honorably served the community as a member of the school board in his district which bears his name. Mr. Drone was a home man in its true sense. He was a kind husband and father, a good provider and a good neighbor. While he never achieved prominence in the public eye, his life has been of great importance to the community he chose to establish, his home in, as the great labor of the producer from the soil is as necessary to this free land of ours as is the government itself, as the one cannot exist without the other. Mr. Drone was a member of the Luthern Church in this village and his burial took place in this village in the Protestant cemetery. From his neighbors were chosen the men who tenderly carried him to his last resting place: John Schlump, Wm. Kraus, Joseph Sikhart, Albert Obriecht, Gottlieb Muller and Ferdinand Lamke. The deceased was survived by his wife, 11 children, 1 brother, 2 sisters and 19 grandchildren. The children are: Mrs. Catherine Folk, [sic] of Salem, Ore; Thomas, of Rossburg, Minn; John, of Salem, Ore; Edward, of Burt, Ia; Andrew, Nellsville, Wis; William, Albert, Henry, Dora, Clara and Elmira, of Muscoda. All the children were present at the funeral excepting the two in Oregon. THe surviving brother is Adam, of Iowa. The two surviving sisters are both well kown residents of this community: Mrs. Jacob Bremmer and Mrs. Herman Bremmer. The deceased had a host of friends and did not have an enemy in the world.3
