Gerald Keith Falk was born on 1 August 1927 in Harrisburg, Linn County, Oregon. He was the son of Julius Adolph Falk and Florence Edna Bond.1
At County Road in North Harrisburg Precinct, Linn County, Oregon, he appeared on the 1930 U.S. census taken on 14 April 1930 in the household of his parents Julius and Florence Edna Falk. He was listed as Gerald K. Falk, son, age 2 8/12, born in Oregon.2
A newspaper article tells about when their home burned: Loses Valuable Home by Fire. The large frame house of Julius Falk burned Thursday afternoon. Most of the furniture in the lower story was saved. A large crowd gathered, but could do nothing to stop the fire. It is said to have started in the upper story of the building but nobody knows how unless it be from the flue. Mr. Falk had carried insurance on it for years but lately had let the policy lapse. The fire was discovered about 4 o'clock when a daughter, Violet, went upstairs to rest, as she was not feeling well. She saw the fire in the attic and gave the alarm. Mr. Falk was gone at the time. Arrangements are under way to replace the house. It was built 19 years ago. Another clipping states Card of Thanks. We wish to thank those who were so kind and thoughful during the loss of our house. Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone who helped in removing the contents during the fire, and we wish to especially thank all who had contributed to our home since. Julius Falk and family.3 A newspaper article was printed on 24 December 1935 in the Democrat-Herald, Albany, Oregon naming Gerald. It read: Busey School Gives Program Friday Night....."How Santa Came Down the Chimney," recitation, by Gerald Falk.4
