A Lane County Pioneer Dead. Robert Dillard, a well known and highly esteemed Lane county pioneer, died at his farm home two miles north of Cottage Grove, Saturday, Nov. 8, 1902, aged 67 years, 3 months and 9 days. He was a native of Missouri, and crossed the plains with his father and mother in 1853 and located in Lane county, where he remained until his death. He united with the Presbyterian church in 1870 and has been a prominent and consistent member of the church every since that time. He was closely related to the Dillards for which the station eight miles south of Roseburg was named, and was a cousin of our towsmen F. L. and Finas Dillard. The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church at CVottage grove Sunday morning. Rev. L. D. Beck, pastor of the church, preaching the funeral sermon. At the conclusion of the service the remains were taken to the Shields cemetery for interment; followed by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends.1
