The remains were interred in the Edson cemetery by the side of his kittle son, who had preceded him to a better world but a few month ago. He was a loving husband and a kind father. A SUDDEN DEATH ATTACH OF HEART DISEASE BRINGS DEATH TO J. H. SMALLEY. Last Saturday evening at about eight o'clock J. H. Smalley dropped dead at the home of brother, L. F. Smalley, who lives about eight miles southeast of Goodland. The cause of death was heart disease. For two or three years the deceased man had been subject to attacks of the dread complaint. He had been ailing of late but was able to be about. While the family was at supper Saturday Mr. Smalley started to go out of the kitchen to the porch. His brother, L. F. Smalley, being worried about his condition followed him. He appeared to be all right, but just before stepping off the porch he stopped and threw up his hands and just as he was about to fall he was caught by his brother, but his weight bore both to the ground. The deceased was in middle life and was unmarried. He was the sixth son of J. W. Smalley, who died July 2, 1914, the mother having passed away several years ago. The family was among the early settlers of sherman county and is highly esteemed. Obituary. John Henry Smalley was born near Wilmington, Clinton county, Ohio March 12, 1871 and died suddenly of heart trouble at the home of his brother, L. R. Smalley, eight miles southeast of Goodland, Kansas, december 5, 1914. Age 43 years, 8 months and 23 days. With his parents he settled in Sherman county, Kan., in 1887 where he has since made his home. He was the sixth son of J. W. and Rachel Smalley, both of whom have preceded him to the better world. His father, J. W. Smalley died July 2, of the present year. He was an honored member of the Modern Woodmen of America, Camp 84. He was a dutiful son, a loving brother and a faithful friend. He leaves three sisters and six brothers besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his sudden death.8
