     Phebe died on 3 July 1999 in Albany, Linn County, Oregon, at age 80.2,3,5 She was buried at Alford Cemetery, between Halsey and Harrisburg, Linn County, Oregon.5 The inscription on her grave marker reads: FALK, Phebe E. Oct. 27, 1918. July 3, 1999.5

Phebe Falk. October 27, 1918 - July 3, 1999. Phebe E. Falk died at her home in the Albany Mennonite Village on July 3, 1999. She was born in Brownsville in 1918 to Warren and Gladys A. (Wade) Isom and was a member of the pioneer Isom family who came to Brownsville in 1853. She attended schools in Harrisburg and Halsey. She and her husband, Omar Falk, were lifelong residents of Halsey and were farmers and ranchers. They did spend six years on their cattle ranch in British Columbia. Phebe lived at the Mennonite Village in Albany since 1989 when her husband died. She was a lifelong member of Halsey Christian Church and a member of Grace Bible Fellowship since moving to Albany. Her hobby was to volunteer at the Mennonite Village. She is survived by her son Noel Falk of Halsey, and daughters Marcele Smith of Brownsville and Diane Parker of Albany. Surviving her also are brothers Wade E. Isom of Harrisburg, Robert C. Isom of Lebanon and sister Kay McKinnon of Albany. Upon her death she had seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A Memorial Service is held today, Wednesday, July 7, at the Grace Bible Fellowship in Tangent with Pastors Don Bayne and Ed Reister officiating. Interment will be at the Alfrod Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements for the family and memorial contributions cane be made to Grace Bible Fellowship Building Fund or Evergreen Hospice through Fisher Funeral Home, phone number 928-3349.2

Services will be held at Powell Butte Christian Church on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. Lyman Lyle Falk was born Feb. 15, 1920, in Halsey, Ore., to parents Charles Ludwig and Elizabeth A. (Forrester) Falk.... He married Margaret J. Doxsee on Jan. 3, 1942, making a marriage of 68 years. They farmed together at Junction City, Ore., until purchasing a ranch and moving to the Alfalfa community in 1951. They lived at the ranch until retirement age, moving to Redmond, in 1977, where he resided until his death. He also worked for various farmers in Powell Butte. He started college with plans to do engineering, but stopped because of WWII. He liked all sports, but especially enjoyed playing baseball on the college team. His grandchildren remember him ice skating with them after retirement. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but especially fishing after he moved off the ranch. He could repair almost anything and took pride in doing it. He was very patriotic and kept informed on government affairs. His love for the Lord grew in his final years. His children include Charlotte Bass (Sam), Dail Hacker (Larry), Brett Falk (Debbie), Loette Wallace (Tom). His grandchldren are Michael and Helen Bass, Phillip Hacker, Neva Allen, Michell Wallace, Naomi Deevers, Jerry and Dusty Wallace, Chelsea and Dakota Falk. He also had nine great grand-children. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brother, les and Omar, and one sister, Lila Turrell. He is survived by three sisters, Doris Isom (Wade), Treva Yada (Brian), and Vonda Fox (John). Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Partners in Care (Hospice), 2075 NE Wyatt Ct, Bend, OR 907701. Deschutes Memorial Chapel intrusted with final arrangements. He is also survived by four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a step-brother, Charles Quimby. services were held at the Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Halsey on Thursday, December 27. Pastor Ed Reister was the officiating clergy. Memorial contributions can be made to the Grace Bible Community Church or the Mennonite Home, in care of Fisher Funeral Home.2

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Harrisburg, son Martin Bierly of Scio, daughters Nancy Waggener of Brownsville, and Barbara Foreman of Eugene; sister Linda Nelson of Chiloquin; step-sisters Edna Quimby of Portland and Betty Bishop of Prineville; grandchildren Ken Bierly of Molalla, Tammy Goracke of Salem, Charley Wolff of Halsey, Dylan Foreman and Duncan Foreman of Eugene, as well as numerous cousins, two nephews, one niece, and five great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Bierly, and step-brother Charles Quimby. Visitation for Kenneth Bierly will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fisher Funeral Home in Albany. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31 at the Grace Bible Community Church in Halsey, with closing services to follow at Alford Cemetery.      Martin S Swanson was born about 1877 in Norway.2
     He married Julia Sabina Falk, daughter of Charles Ludwig Falk and Odelia Salvienia Rike, in Iowa about 1902.1,3
     Martin and Julia appeared on the state census in Wesley Township, Kossuth County, Iowa, in 1905. They were shown as Martin and Julia S Swanson, post office address Wesley, Iowa. Their son Marvin was listed as living with them.4
     On 26 January 1920 Martin and Julia appeared on the 1920 U.S. census taken in Dead Lake Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. His listing showed him as Martin Swanson, age 42, born in Norway as were his parents. He had immigrated in 1882 and was naturalized. He was a farmer on a general farm on his own account. Julia was enumerated as Julia S. Swanson, wife, age 38, born in Wisconsin with both parents born in Germany. Their son Marvin was listed as living with them.5
     In Dead Lake Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, Martin and Julia appeared on the 1930 U.S. census taken on 19 April 1930. He was enumerated as Martin Swanson, age 52, first married at age 24. He was born in Norway as were his parents. He immigrated in 1891 and was naturalized. Martin's occupation was shown as farmer on a dairy farm. They owned their home and were one of the few in the neighborhood who did own a radio. Her listing showed her as Julia S. Swanson, wife, age 48, married at age 20, born in Wisconsin and parents born in Germany. Their son Marvin was listed as living with them.6
     Martin and Julia appeared on the 1940 U.S. census taken on 18 April 1940 in Dead Lake Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. His listing showed Martin Swanson, a 62 year old farmer, born in Norway, who had completed 2 years of high school. She was shown as Julia Swanson, wife, age 59, born in Wisconsin, having completed 3 years of high school. They had lived at the same house in 1935. Their children Marvin were listed as living with them.7 A local history of Otter Tail County published in 1977 included the following about Martin: Martin Swanson, with his wife Julia and small son, Marvin, came to Dead Lake Township in 1911 from Wesley, Iowa. They had purchased a farm home on the north side of Dead Lake, Section 25. Martin, besides being a good farmer, was also a very good mechanic, doing considerable well in that line in his own farm shop, working particularly on some of the early automobiles.8
     Martin died on 28 June 1941 in Otter Tail County, Minnesota.9 He was buried at Richville Cemetery, Rush Lake Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota.10,11

     James John Tong was born on 18 April 1818 in Logan County, Ohio.1,2,3
     He married Ann Bond, daughter of John Bond and Sarah Chastain, in Van Buren County, Iowa, on 14 April 1841.4,1
     James and Ann appeared on the 1850 U.S. census taken in September 1850 in District 18, Marion County, Iowa. James was listed as James Tong, a 31 year old farmer born in Ohio whose real estate value was $400. Ann was age 26, born in Indiana. Their children Sarah and John were listed as living with them. They were living next door to Ann's brother Solomon.5 In 1852 James and Ann moved to Clackamas County, Oregon Territory, They went by wagon train following the Oregon Trail. Their children Sarah and John went with them. Apparently other members of the same wagon train were Ann's sister Susan and her husband Harmon C. Davis and their infant daughter, Sarah..6,7 On 30 September 1852 James and Ann Tong settled Donation Land Claim Number Oregon City 4261, in Clackamas County, Oregon Territory described as 314.36 acres in Section 11, Township 2 South, Range 2 East.2,8 James John Tong was living in Clackamas County, Oregon Territory, when Oregon became a state on 14 February 1859.9
     On 12 July 1860 James appeared on the 1860 U.S. census taken in Rock Creek Precinct, Clackamas County, Oregon. Other members in his household were his wife Ann, his son John and two daughters, Rachel and Rebecca..10 The patent for the Donation Land Claim Number Oregon City 4261 located in Clackamas County, Oregon was issued on 24 December 1873 to James and Ann Tong.8
     On 10 June 1880 in Marshfield Precinct, Clackamas County, Oregon, James and Ann appeared on the 1880 U.S. census. He was listed as James Tong, age 62, born in Ohio, his father born in Maryland and his mother in Virginia. His occupation was shown as works on farm. They were living in the same dwelling as their daughter Rachel Emma, and her husband Jacob Scott and their children.11
     James died on 4 October 1887 in Oregon at age 69.1,3

Laura Jewett1

     Laura Jewett was born about 1827 in Ohio.1
     She married James Bond, son of John Bond and Sarah Chastain, in Jefferson County, Iowa, on 17 October 1842.1 In 1847 Laura and James moved to Clatsop County, Oregon Territory, They traveled over the Oregon Trail along with their two daughters, Minerva and Caroline. It is probable that Laura's father, John Jewett, and his family also moved to Oregon that year.2 Laura became a widow at her husband's death on 18 February 1849.2 James's death was caused by an accidental gunshot wound. His third daughter, Sarah, was born a little over two months later.3
     She married Carlos W. Shane in Clatsop County, Oregon, on 13 August 1850.4
     Laura and Carlos appeared on the 1850 U.S. census taken on 9 March 1851 in Clatsop County, Oregon. He was shown as C. W. Shane, age 33,born in Ohio, a farmer with real estate valued at $2000 and she was listed as Mrs. Shane, age 23, born in Ohio. Others in the household included Laura's three daughters, Minerva, Caroline and Sarah.5 Laura Ferrell was living in Clatsop County, Oregon Territory, when Oregon became a state on 14 February 1859.6
     She married Ferdinand Ferrell in Clatsop County, Oregon, on 4 July 1859.7
     In July 1860 she appeared in the household of Ferdinand Ferrell on the 1860 U.S. census taken in Astoria & Youngs, Clatsop County, Oregon. She was listed as Laura F. Ferrell, age 32, born in Iowa.8
     In Astoria, Clatsop County, Oregon, she appeared on the 1870 U.S. census in the household of Ferdinand Ferrell on 15 June 1870. She was listed as Laura Ferrell, age 43, born in Ohio, keeping house, with real property valued at $5000.9
     Laura died about 1897 in Oregon.1

     She married John McMullen in Clatsop County, Oregon, on 16 July 1859.4,5 John and Minerva were married by the County Judge, Samuel T. McKean. The witnesses were Addison Jewett and Henry Jewett, Minerva's uncles.4

     She appeared on the 1850 U.S. census taken on 9 March 1851 in Clatsop County, Oregon, in the household of Carlos W. Shane. Carlos had married her mother. Sarah's listing showed her as S. Shane, age 2, born in Oregon.3 Sarah S Bond was living in Clatsop County, Oregon Territory, when Oregon became a state on 14 February 1859.4
     On 24 June 1860 she appeared in the household of Harmon and Susan Ione Davis on the 1860 U.S. census taken in Fairfield Precinct, Marion County, Oregon. She was enumerated as S.S.      On 10 June 1880 in Lower Molalla Precinct, Marion County, Oregon, Sarah and Nathan appeared on the 1880 U.S. census. Nathan's listing showed him as N. L. Coffenberry, a 41 year old farmer, born in Indiana. Sarah was shown as S. S. Coffenberry, wife who keeps house, age 31, born in Oregon. Other members of their household included a son and a daughter.8 About 1895 Sarah and Nathan moved to Hubbard, Marion County, Oregon.9
     In Hubbard, Marion County, Oregon, she appeared in the household of Nathan Lewis Coffenberry on the 1900 U.S. census taken on 1 June 1900.10

     Sarah died on 5 February 1939 in Hubbard, Marion County, Oregon, at age 89.15,2
     An obituary for Sarah S Coffenberry was published in the Oregon Statesman, Salem, Oregon on 8 February 1939. It read:
Final Rites Held For Oldest Native. Sarah Bond Coffenberry Is Called at Hubbard at Age of 90. The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Bond Coffenberry, 90, who died Sunday was held Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational church, Rev. N. Sherman Hawk officiating. Mrs. Sarah Coffenberry, nee Bond, was born May 29, 1949, at Clatsop Plains, Astoria. She was married to Nathan Lewis Coffenberry on her 18th birthday. Two children were born to this union, Sarah Lillian and George B. Mrs. Coffenberry is believed to be the oldest native-born Oregonian. The Coffenberrys moved to Hubbard 44 years ago and have lived here continually since. She was a charter member of the Hubbard Congregational church. Her husband and son preceded here in death. H. S. Bond of Turner is a first cousin. Burial was in the Hubbard cemetery.9
