     Mary Mildred Dyer was born on 20 August 1898.1
     She married Walter James Ward, son of Arthur Ward and Elizabeth Katharine Falk, in Algona, Kossuth County, Iowa, on 18 June 1924.1 Mary became a widow at her husband's death on 29 October 1968.2
     Mary died on 12 June 1995 in Humboldt, Humboldt County, Iowa, at age 96.3
     An obituary for Mary Mildred Ward was published in her funeral folder, Humboldt, Iowa on 15 June 1995. It read:
Mary Dyer was born August 20, 1898, near Ayrshire. She attended high school in Great Oak Township, and later attended normal training school in Emmetsburg. She taught county school in Great Oak Township for one year and in 1924 was united in marriage to Walter Ward in Algona. The couple farmed in the Titonka, Wesley, Corwith and Humboldt areas. Following her husband's death she continued to live in Curlew, until the fall of 1986, when she moved to Humboldt. In November of 1988 she moved to the Care Center South in Humboldt. She was a member of the Jessica Circle, Beaver's Ladies Group, and was a hospital volunteer at Emmetsburg for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. Her interests were her church, gardening, sewing, tatting, family, flowers, and baseball. Mary Ward passed away at the Care Center South in Humboldt on June 12, at the age of 96 years, following a lengthy illness. She is survived by her daughters, June Oswald of Brownsdale, Minnesota; Mary Black of Norman, Oklahoma; Laura Seiler of Humboldt; and Sylvie Larson of Thor; a son, Walter Ward, Jr. of Pella; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Marker of Booneville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1968; a son, John; four grandchildren; four sisters; and three brothers.3

     Henry Falk was born on 13 June 1889 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.1,2 He was the son of William Hager and Elizabeth Katharine Falk.1
     In Pulaski Township, Iowa County, Wisconsin, he appeared in the household of Frederick William Falk on the 1900 U.S. census taken on 8 June 1900.3 In 1989 Henry's cousin John Duffey wrote the following about him: "I grew up knowing Big Hank and liked him very much. In his later years he lived in Muscoda and died here....This man was huge, with hands like hams and had a heart of gold. He had not had an easy or satisfying life, but in spite of it he was always pleasant, sometimes a bit gruff but fun to have around."4
     Henry died in February 1960 in Muscoda, Grant County, Wisconsin, at age 70.5,6 A cousin, John Duffey, wrote the following about Henry's death. "I found him dead in his little house one morning--he hadn't showed up at our station the day before which was most unusual so the next morning I drove down to the house, hammer on the door, to no avail, so I dug out a key he had given me to keep and opened the door. He had gotten out of bed, made it to the kitchen table and then had a heart attack. He was half off the chair and had been dead for at least 24 hrs beore I found him--at least that is what the Coroner's report said."7 He was buried at Avoca Cemetery, Avoca, Iowa County, Wisconsin.8 His grave marker inscription reads: FALK. HENRY. 1889 1960.8

Falk, age 50, first married at age 29. His birthplace was Wisconsin and his parents in Germany. Louis's occupation was farmer, dairy and grain. He was a property owner and did not have a radio. She was shown as Anna E. Falk, wife, age 37, married at age 16. Her birthplace was listed as Wisconsin and her parents born in Pennsylvania. Their children Ava, Edna, Charles, Luella, Ardella, Betty, Louis and Delmer were listed as living with them.11
     Anna and Louis appeared on the 1940 U.S. census taken on 29 April 1940 in West Brownsville Precinct, Linn County, Oregon. He was shown asd Louis R Falk, farmer, completed 7 grades of school, age 60, born in Wisconsin. She was listed as Anna E Falk, wife, age 47, born in Wisconsin and completed 8th grade. They lived on an owned farm valued at $6,700. In 1935 they had lived in the same house. Their children Charles, Betty, Louis, Delmer and Stanley were listed as living with them.12 Anna became a widow at her husband's death on 21 February 1955.13,14
     Anna died on 19 March 1968 in Linn County, Oregon, at age 74. On the same day as her son Charles.15,4
     An obituary for Anna Elizabeth Falk was published in the Brownsville Times, Brownsville, Oregon on 21 March 1968. It read:
Double funeral services for Mrs. Anna Falk, 74, and her son, Charles, 54, who succumbed to an extended illness Tuesday 12 hours apart, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Presbyterian Church of Brownsville. Both were long-time residents of the Halsey area. The Rev. Gary Knuths will officiate and interment will be at Alford Cemetery, Fisher Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Falk passed away at the Mennonite Home near Albany at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, and Charlies succumbed 12 hours later at the Lyn Manor Nursing Home in Lebanon. Baynard Hillway will be solosist [sic] at the double service, and Mrs. Hillway, organist. On floral committee are Mrs. Raymond Kirk and Mrs. Charles Bierly. Bearers for Mrs. Falk are: Raymond Kirk, Rawley Falk, Everett Falk, John Smith, Charles Bierly and Robert Carey. His bearers are: Robert May, Oscar Davis, Charles Caufield, James Kirk, Charles Curtis, and Leslie Falk.
Anna Elizabeth Falk. Mrs. Falk was born May 9, 1893 at Avoca, Wisc. She came to the Halsey area with her parents in 1903, and lived there until her final illness. She was married April 9, 1909 at Halsey to Louis R. Falk, Sr., who passed away Feb. 21, 1955. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving are eight children, 25 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Her children are: Mrs. Clifford (Ava) Thomson of Grants Pass; Mrs. James (Betty Jean) Alexander of St. David, Ariz; Mrs. Aaron (Luella) Starnes of Culver; Mrs. Ardella Reese of Portland, Mrs. j. A. (Edna) Porter of Brownsville; Louis r. and Stanley Falk of Halsey and Delmer Falk of Junction City.2

     Another obituary for Anna Elizabeth Falk was published in an unidentified newspaper, Oregon in 1968. It read:
FALK, Mrs. Anna Elizabeth, 74, and son, Charles D. Falk, 54, both of Halsey, died March 19. Mrs. Falk is survived by children: Mrs. Ava Thomson, Grants Pass, Ore., Mrs. Betty Jean Alexander, St. David, Ariz., Mrs. Luella Starnes, Culver, Ore., Mrs. Ardella Reese, Portland, Mrs. Edna Porter, Brownsville, Louis R. and Stanley Falk both of Halsey and Delmer Falk, Junction City, Ore. Charles is survived by his brothers and sisters. double funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Brownsville Presbyterian Church, Rev. Gary Knuths officiating. Interment Alford Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Fisher funeral Home. 3-20,3-21,3-22.16
